Moments before Jaime and Rebecca's lavish wedding at the Duque home, Joe unleashes his vengeance and has his men set fire to the Duque fields. While trying to put out the flames, Rebecca reveals that she and Jaime had a fight and he drove off into the now-burning fields. Alex rescues him from the flames in the nick of time, and after surviving the harrowing experience, Jaime forgives Rebecca for having had an affair and the two get married. Shortly thereafter, Alex comes clean to the family about all his secrets and lies and about Joe's involvement in Lucia's murder. Following this revelation, Amalia gives Alex her blessing to even the score with Joe, but during Alex's confrontation, someone beats him to the punch and kills Joe.
